Day 2: No locked Rooms!
Psalm 139:23–24 “Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!”
If yesterday was about a fresh start, today is about letting God fully interact with our lives. Often, we invite God into certain areas of our lives—our church life, our spiritual goals, maybe even our struggles—but we keep other doors closed. It could be our habits, our relationships, our finances, our attitudes, or even our thought life.
David’s prayer in Psalm 139 is bold because it’s an invitation for God to search every room in the house of his heart. He wasn’t asking for God to give a casual glance; he wanted God to reveal the hidden motives, the blind spots, the areas that needed change. That takes courage—but it’s the kind of surrender that brings real transformation.
Think of it this way: when you fast, you are not just saying “no” to something; you are creating open space for God to move in. If we’re being honest day one’s “no’s” knocked me for a loop! Then when you pray, you are not just speaking to God; you are listening for His Spirit to point out areas where He wants to bring healing, growth, or conviction.
The truth is, God doesn’t just want to touch part of your life—He wants it all. Every room. Every corner. Every locked drawer. Because where the Spirit of the Lord is allowed access, there is freedom as Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians, and in that freedom we can be transformed into the exact person God created us to be!
2 Corinthians 3: 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
So today, ask God to search your heart and reveal any hidden areas that you’ve resisted giving to Him. Pray for the courage to surrender those areas fully to His will. Ask God to cleanse and renew you, replacing old ways with His Spirit’s power. Also today, let’s take 10 minutes today and journal: “What areas of my life am I hesitant to let God touch?” Write them down honestly. Then, in prayer tonight, hold them up before God as an offering. Make Psalm 139:23–24 your personal prayer three times today during our three times of prayer.
God never exposes an area of our life to condemn us; He exposes it so He can heal it. When you surrender everything, you will discover a deeper freedom and joy than you imagined. Don’t fear His searching—embrace it. The God who searches is also the God who restores.
