Day 3: Call to Me

Jeremiah 33:1 (ESV) The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah a second time, while he was still shut up in the court of the guard: 2 “Thus says the Lord who made the earth, the Lord who formed it to establish it—the Lord is his name: 3 Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.

Prayer is one of the most remarkable invitations God gives to His people.

Throughout Scripture, God does not simply tolerate prayer, He invites it. He calls His people to come to Him, to speak to Him, to seek Him. In one of the most powerful invitations in the Bible, the Lord plainly tells Jeremiah: “Call to me.”

These words were spoken to the prophet, who was going to be labeled “the Weeping Prophet,” during a dark and uncertain time. Jerusalem was under siege, the future looked bleak, and the nation was facing the consequences of its rebellion. They were on the front end of a 70-year exile. Yet even in that moment, God extended an invitation to seek Him.

“Call to me and I will answer you.”

This promise reminds us that prayer is not a ritual we perform; it is a relationship we enter. When we call on the Lord, we are not interrupting Him. We are responding to His invitation.

On top of our praying, or calling out to God, fasting helps us respond to that invitation with intentionality. By setting aside food or other comforts, we create space in our hearts to seek God more earnestly.

And as we call on Him, God promises something more than just answers—He promises revelation. He reveals things we could not see on our own. He gives wisdom, direction, and understanding that only comes from His presence. Prayer opens the door for God to speak into our lives.

So today, do not hesitate to call on the Lord. Bring Him your needs, your questions, your burdens, and your hopes. The God of heaven is not distant.

He is inviting you to call to Him with the promise, He will be there to answer.

Prayer Focus

Father, thank You for inviting me to call on You. Teach me to seek You earnestly during this time of prayer and fasting. Open my heart to hear Your voice and give me wisdom that only You can provide. As I draw near to You, reveal the things You desire to show me and guide my life according to Your will. In Jesus’ name, amen.
