Day 5 : Charge your mind!
Romans 12:1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
We’ve talked about plugging into the Source, and today I want us to think about something that is absolutely critical to our spiritual lives: our minds.
Your mind is powerful. I mean, that is such an understatement that I can’t even explain it. No matter our technological advancements we make in our time, our minds will be the most advanced supercomputer on the planet.
With that said, what you think about affects what you believe, what you believe affects how you live, and how you live eventually determines the direction of your life. That’s why the enemy works so hard to get into our heads. If he can influence the way we think, he can influence the way we live.
Read that paragraph over and over! Our MIND is the battlefield on which Satan wants to win!
Back to the Phone Metaphor, your phone can have a full battery, plenty of storage and all the latest features and attachments, but what good is it if the operating system is messed up? You can have all the power in the world and still not function the way you were designed to function. We can be praying, fasting and seeking God, but if we continue filling our minds with the same negative thoughts, fears, lies, bitterness, temptation and worldly thinking, we will struggle to live the life God has called us to live.
Paul tells the Roman church, “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Notice he doesn't say, “Try harder.” He says renew your mind. God wants to change the way you see yourself, the way you see other people, the way you see your circumstances and, most importantly, the way you see Him. Sometimes the biggest thing that needs to change isn't what's happening around us, it's what's happening inside our heads.
So today, pay attention to what you're putting into your mind. What are you watching? What are you listening to? What are you constantly thinking about? What voices have you allowed to become louder than God's Word? Your mind is like the operating system of your life. Garbage in, garbage out. Truth in, truth out. If we want to live differently, we've got to start thinking differently.
Today, ask God to show you where your thinking needs to be renewed. Then replace the lies with His truth. Replace fear with faith. Replace worry with prayer. Replace bitterness with forgiveness. Replace “I can't” with “God can.” Don't just charge your phone during these 21 days—charge your mind with the Word of God.
Today’s Prayer
Lord, Today I need you to renew my mind. Show me the thoughts, attitudes and lies that don't belong in my life. Help me recognize what is draining me spiritually and replace it with Your truth. Give me the mind of Christ and help me think about the things that honor You.
Help highlight in my mind the unhealthy things I have been putting into my mind and replace it with the peace of your Holy Spirit. Give my mind the clarity, focus, and spiritual recharge that I need
In Jesus' name, Amen.
